Install VLC from VideoLAN or your device's official app store. Choose Open Network Stream or the equivalent, paste a complete M3U playlist or stream URL supplied by your provider, and play it. VLC is a general media player, so it may not organise IPTV categories and guides like a dedicated IPTV app.
Before you start
Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone, and iPad, plus selected TV platforms. VLC's interface and available features vary by operating system.
VLC opens network stream addresses and can play supported M3U or HLS links. It does not provide a dedicated IPTV login form for every Xtream Codes account. Ask for a full M3U URL if your provider gave only separate Xtream fields.
Setup
On Windows or Mac, download VLC from VideoLAN's website. On Android or Apple devices, use the official app store and follow the store listing linked by VideoLAN.
On desktop, open Media and choose Open Network Stream. On mobile, open the Browse or Network section and choose the option to open a network stream. The menu labels can differ by operating system and version.
Enter the full M3U playlist address or direct stream URL supplied by your provider, then choose Play or Open. A username and password by themselves are not a playable address. Keep the whole URL private if it contains credentials.
If VLC plays the link but you need a channel grid, programme guide, or separate movie and series sections, use a dedicated IPTV player that supports your provider's login format.
Make setup easier
If setup gets stuck
Check that you pasted the entire URL and that it begins with the protocol your provider supplied, such as http:// or https://. Ask the provider to confirm the link is current.
You may have a direct stream URL instead of an M3U playlist. Ask your provider which type they supplied and whether an M3U link is available.
VLC is not the simplest choice for that login format. Ask for an M3U link or use a dedicated player that accepts Xtream Codes credentials.
Test another stream, use a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection, and close other high-bandwidth apps. If one URL alone fails, contact the provider with its name and the time you tested it.

Common questions
VLC can play supported network streams and playlist URLs such as M3U. It is a general media player and may not include the IPTV account, guide, and category workflow you expect from a dedicated app.
VLC does not provide the same dedicated Xtream Codes login form found in many IPTV apps. Ask your provider for a complete M3U URL or use a player that supports Xtream Codes.
Use VideoLAN's official download page for desktop, or follow the official iPhone, iPad, and Android app links on VideoLAN's website.
